The group is together and orientation has begun! HUC has an absolutely beautiful campus that overlooks the Old City. After a day of getting to know each other with a variety of camp-like ice breakers, we went up to a knoll overlooking the city and heard words of Torah. Afterwards, we passed around the Torah and said the Shehechiyanu, a prayer for reaching a special moment in time. It was lovely and meaningful ritual and set the tone for what I hope is a year of learning, community and growth.
